About the Event
On December 7th, 2023, from 4:30 pm to 6:00 pm, the Tag organization will be hosting a youth event called "Truth About Drugs." TCIONY, led by Executive Director Al Cohen and Program Director Janet Cohen, is a non-profit organization dedicated to improving local communities and providing programs for progress. It was established to support underrepresented black and brown communities in NYC, advocating for justice, equity, opportunities, knowledge, and empowerment. TCIONY promotes the T.A.G. program, which offers a safe space for youth to express their thoughts and feelings. They also encourage the Teens against Guns movement, helping teenagers gain a positive outlook on life and avoid harm.
The event will be held at Salem United Methodist Church located at 2190 Adam Clayton Powell Jr Blvd. It is expected to have approximately 100-200 young participants. A survey was conducted to gather input from the youth on what they would like to learn about drugs. A panel of experts has been assembled to answer their questions. The panel includes Frank A. Tarantino III, special agent in charge of the US Drug Enforcement Administration's New York Division; Bridget G. Brennan, Special Narcotics prosecutor for the city of New York; Dr. Jason Graham, Chief Medical Examiner; Ann-Marie Foster, President and CEO of Phoenix Houses of NY/LI; Chief Brian McGee, Commanding Officer of the Forensic Investigation Division; and Dr. Prisco, Medical Doctor in Residenacy from Mt. Sinai Medical Center
